General surgeon
General surgeons specialize in general surgery, which is that branch of medicine dealing with manual and operative procedures for correction of deformities and defects, repair of injuries, diagnosis and cure of diseases, and relief of suffering.
General surgeons also often practice in one or more surgical specialties such as weight loss or neurosurgery.

Dr. Yancey, a board-certified general and bariatric surgeon, received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia's School of Medicine, where he also completed his internship. Yancey did his residency at Howard University Hospital where he served as chief resident as the hospital from 1996-1997. In addition to his medical degree, Yancey has a master's degree in cardiovascular pharmacology. He is the recipient of several honors and awards, including the 2004 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Award for Humanitarian Service to the Community.
