Chesapeake General Hospital's Rapid Response Team is ready around the clock to respond to patient emergencies.
The team is made up of respiratory therapists, intensive care and emergency room nurses, all specially trained to recognize and reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, respiratory distress and other medical emergencies.

IF YOU HAVE A MEDICAL EMERGENCY, HAVE THE NURSE CALL THE RAPID RESPONSE TEAM.

When to call and what to look for

  • Changes in heart of breathing rate
  • A drop in blood pressure
  • Changes in urinary output
  • Confusion or other mental status changes
  • A patient does not look or seem right

How to reach the Rapid Response Team

1st floor: Dial 9-406-6020

2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th floors: Dial 8-475-5294, then enter the patient's room number and the # sign.

When the call is answered, please provide a brief description of the situation.
