Prepared Childbirth

These informative class explains how your baby is developing throughout your pregnancy and what to expect during the birth process. You'll learn relaxation methods and breathing techniques. And we'll talk about what happens during each stage of labor. Hospital procedures, anesthesia options for labor and Cesarean delivery, along with recovery and postpartum will also be on the agenda.

Pre-register for class during your 2nd trimester of pregnancy - you will want to start class around your 30th week, so register early. Both you and your coach should plan to attend. Substitute coaches are also welcome. Please bring two pillows and a blanket to class.

Classes are offered at various times to meet your busy schedule. Prices are per couple and are due at registration. Call 757-312-6508 to register.

Additional classes

We also offer two additional classes included in the price of the childbirth class. Parents will brush up on breathing, relaxation and coping skills, and the latest medical options. Both of these sessions are recommended as an excellent refresher for experienced couples.

Comfort Measures & Relaxation Class ($35 if purchased separately):

Comfort Measures is a single class on breathing patterns, positive birth postures, ideas, and practice for you and your labor support partner. This class will provide you and your partner with skills that will help you through each contraction….one at a time!

Offered as one Monday class, 6:30-9 p.m.

Medications & Medical Options is a class to learn all your options for pain medications and medical interventions during labor and delivery. This class will provide you and your partner with the knowledge of how medications are administered to how they work.
